The Itinerary

 Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

You will be received by a representative from Africa Nature Trekkers and one of our drivers / safari guide at Kigali International Airport and transfer you to Hotel des Mille Collines for check in; and overnight stay.

 Day 2: Kigali – Nyungwe Forest National Park

After an early morning breakfast, transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park en route visiting the traditional palace of Rwanda’s former emperor in Nyanza. Drive past green fields of tea scattered on the hillside slopes and the small wooden houses unique to the areas surrounding Nyungwe Forest. This drive may take you approximately 6 hours. Dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Guest House

 Day 3: Guided Nature Walk

After breakfast, set out for an escorted early morning guided nature walk. This spectacular exercise will enable you spot a variety of bird species in Nyungwe forest. If bird watching is your obsession, you will not miss amazing varieties. Two hundred eighty avian species have been identified in the forest. You will enjoy spectacular sights of the Rwenzori Turaco and Black, White Casqued Hornbill, etc. There is guaranteed sightings for large troops of colobus monkeys along the different forest trails. In the afternoon, go for chimpanzee tracking. Dinner and overnight stay at Gisakura Guest House

 Day 4: Transfer Back to Kigali

After breakfast drive back to Kigali. Along the way, in Butare, enjoy a relaxing stopover at the Botanical Gardens. Get into the city in time for lunch. After lunch, set out for a rewarding scenic drive towards Kinigi via Ruhengeri. The beautiful scenery of the rolling hills for which Rwanda is well known will make the journey interesting to look at.  Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcano National Park

After a morning breakfast transfer to Kinigi Park Headquarters for a briefing from the rangers and then immediately set out for the gorilla trek in Parc National des Volcans. Dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Nest Hotel

 Day 6: Parc National des Volcanos

Today you will enjoy a full-day guided tour during you may visit Dian Fossey’s grave, track Golden Monkeys, gorilla trekking, climb the Visoke or Karisimbi Volcanos, tour of the lakes Ruhondo and Burera. Cave exploration – visit Musanze cave and natural bridge. This is also incredible. Your encounter with the gorillas is the highlight of any Rwanda safari. Time taken to encounter these gentle apes ranges between 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas on that particular day. You cannot miss the colorful birds.

 Day 7: Kigali – Departure

Depart for Kigali after breakfast and depending on your flight schedule, you can take a city tour in Kigali, visit the genocide memorial sites, art and crafts shops and local markets, after which you proceed to the airport for your flight back home.
