Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is located at a very high altitude and it has one of the best stunning views of the volcanic Virunga Mountains as well as the bwindi forest.The lodge is set on the ridge of the forest and near the entrance of Bwindi Impenetrable forest. The lodge is an award winning lodge and prizes which are both international and local. Thus making it the most comfortable lodge in Bwindi.

It’s approximately 2300metres on top of the ridge that is 7500feet (altitude) offering the stunning view of the Virunga, western rift valley, and the surrounding rolling hills looking so gorgeous.

The lodge is remote, friendly and beautiful that enables you to overlook the Virunga volcano, and it is the impenetrable forest, plus the various species of birds that cool your mind as you relax watching them in flight and patching. Hence creating comfort, and to make it more exciting gorgeous meals are prepared which are satisfying and delicious plus the freshly juice that is served, and other beverage like wine, whisky. They serve nice breakfast with freshly brewed coffee, the type of breakfast are local. English and continental breakfast.

Accommodation Facilities

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is a community project that has involved the community enabling it to work out very well. The lodge has eight (8) family units which are separate stone houses each with a warm fire place. They have two bedrooms with en-suit bathrooms with hot and cold water. The place has electricity with plug points for those who would like charging their electrical gadgets, the lodge has got a large sitting room in the main lodge, which is fabulous.

How to get there

The lodge can be accessed by both air transport and road transport, in other-words it is accessed by two modes of transport. It is 427km from Kampala to kabale. You can book flights from Entebbe, Kajjansi, then to Kisoro. From Kisoro you use road transport or mode to the lodge. If use road transport from Kampala to Kabale, you need to travel though Kampala, cross the Equator to Masaka, then Mbarara to kabale and it is approximately 427km. As you are being picked up from Kisoro airstrip (in case you used Air transport) enjoy the wild African wind blowing in hair, and feel the nature as you move though ever green region with stunning views of the environment including the hills, the local community making your experience unforgettable in just one quarter hour that is 35km to the lodge.

Before you come to the lodge, you are welcomed by the community, the children smiling, and waving shouting in a way of charming and friendliness making you feel welcomed and not only at the lodge but also by the community.

The main Lodge is built using local volcanic stones with a concrete floor, the walls of the lodge are well decorated and with images (paintings) that are commissioned by the Uganda artists, thus keeping you entertained throughout your leisure time. The main lodge is large and very comfortable, it has collections (groups) of armchairs and sofas that you can sit into and relax after a day’s trip or walk, and then next to it is a fireplace that is gorgeously warm.

Restaurant

The restaurant prepares delicious dishes that are made by professional, well skilled chefs, who prepare both local and international cuisines which are well decorated. They also have a lodge garden where they grow some greens and vegetables. The food is very good and attractively presented.

Clients at Clouds stay in their own cottages, each with a large sitting room with a fireplace plus a hand- woven carpet and arm chairs which creates comfort and privacy. There are also community activities which include pamper in massage and beauty treatment. The staffs are always alert, Friendly, but they are gentle and warm welcoming plus being dedicated of personal butler and smiles on the faces of all staffs.

At clouds every family/ couple gets a butler in other wards a head servant who looks after them, though getting to know your want and requests. The lodge organizes wake up coffee and tea in case you want it. The butlers help in serving you meals and drinks. the fire places help to warm up the guest rooms.
