Buhoma Community Rest Camp / Buhoma Bandas

The Rest Camp is located in Buhoma village a five (5) Minutes drive from the main road, and it is found in kanungu district. It offers the best view of Bwindi Impenetrable Gorilla National Park due to its elevated location. Its interest is to offer something more to its client than the budget accommodation.

buhoma community bandasBuhoma is the oldest habituated gorilla’s family in the whole of Bwindi national park. It offers bands that are cabins however they are dormitories and self-contained tents.

Food and Menu

The cuisine are prepared locally (cultivated vegetables and foods) by Ugandan chefs who prepare both international and local foods. An example of their meal plan includes fresh mushroom soup, roasted potatoes, tilapia fish or well prepared vegetable masala, saucy-mixed vegetables, and crepes having honey sauce, and a cup of hot chocolate tea or coffee

Breakfast includes fresh fruits plus toast served with eggs (omelet, scrambled,poached, fried and boiled,) with a glass of juice and tea or coffee.

They also do takeaways where they pack for their guest’s fast food especially those going for trekking. For example a sandwich, juice, some fruits, a boiled egg plus biscuits.

Many of their clients who have stayed with them say that their accommodation is perfect, they are always welcoming, their food is really good and they provide comfortable lodging and also the view.

Buhoma community rest camp offers six nicely furnished safari tents having en-suite facilities with three self-contained cottages, as well as two twin cottage bandas that are not self-contained. Each of their bandas was constructed using local materials with an African themed architectural design. They also have a dormitory with 6 beds in addition to various campsites.

-$120 – 2 people Full-Board

-$72 – Single Person

-$96 – 2 people sharing one room

That is, if they are two people they pay $96 for a Full-Board and for a single person $60, and if they are two people sharing they pay $78

For the Dormitory they range from one individual – one bed at $12 and for a full board $48

Buhoma community rest camp is a community projected established by the local people with an aim of making profits which are returned back to the community
