Access to Murchison Falls Park
Murchison Falls National Park is located in north western Uganda and it is the largest Savannah Park in the country.
The Park can be accessed either by road a drive that takes approximately 6 hours from Kampala or by air to any of the airstrips around the park including Pakuba airstrip found on the northern bank of the Nile or Bugungu airstrip on the southern bank of river Nile.
What to see on the Balloon Safari in Murchison Falls
This beautiful savannah park is blessed with a very large number of different wild animals including: lions, Uganda kobs, leopards, chimpanzees, elephants, giraffes, crocodiles, hippos as well as hartebeests, oribis, among several others plus a variety of bird species. As you soar up in the sky you will have an opportunity to enjoy an aerial view of most of these animals.
You will also have an opportunity to see the powerful Murchison falls found on the course of River Nile the longest river in the world.
The Murchison Falls National Park also has a variety of vegetation zone which you will have an opportunity to see including Budongo Forest
The Hot Air Balloon Safari Experience
The Hot Air balloon safari begins very early in the morning at 5:00am. You will be transferred from your lodges to paraa lodge where you will find the crew and the balloon equipment and then be transferred to the starting point. You will enjoy a cup of tea/ coffee as you wait for the balloon to be fully inflated and also be briefed by the pilot about the rules and safety regulations to follow on this exciting unique adventure.
Once the balloon is ready, you will get on board and by 6:00am the flight will begin. You will fly over the large park for about 45 minutes, flying at different altitudes which will give you different views of the wildlife and vegetation below you.
You will also have an opportunity to take photographs at a very different angel compared to when you’re on the ground. You will watch the beautiful sun rise over the savannah and the sun rays beam over this park and bring life to it – it is a breathtaking view. The birds, the animals, the forest, the waterfalls and the river will all be right below.
Eventually you will land and those of you on full-package will have a bush breakfast and later be awarded with certificates of participation.
3 Day Balloon safari Murchison Falls
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
Today our guide from Africa Nature Trekkers Ltd will meet you at your hotel and brief you about this Hot Air balloon Safari before setting off to the park.you will drive northwards through the countryside and stopover at the Zziwa Rhino sanctuary where you will have an opportunity to track Rhinos. Later on you will continue into the park and check into your night’s accommodation.
Meal Plan: En-route lunch, and dinner
Drive Time: 5 to 6 hours
Accommodation: Paraa Safari Lodge, Baker’s Lodge, or Murchison River Lodge
Day 2: Hot Air Balloon Safari and Boat Cruise on the Nile
Our guide will transfer to the paraa lodge and there you will join the pilot and the rest of the crew before being transferred to the beginning-point for this hot air balloon safari. You will enjoy a cup of tea / coffee and be briefed before flying. The 45 minutes experience will offer you an exciting aerial view of the animals, river, lakes trees birds and the rising sun. After landing, you will have a bush breakfast and be awarded a certificate of Participation.
You will return to your lodge, rest, have lunch and in the afternoon, you will have a boat cruise on the Nile to the bottom of the waterfalls during which you will see various wildlife and above all the breathtaking view of the waters of the mighty Nile squeeze throw a narrow 7 meter gorge before making a powerful drop of about 43 meters.
Late you will return to your lodge for the overnight.

Day 3: return to Kampala
Today you will enjoy a scrumptious breakfast at your lodge before beginning the drive to Kampala. You will visit the top of the falls on your way out of the park, have an en-route lunch and later arrive in Kampala or be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
